Yulee vs Bartram Game Recap

The Bartram Trail Bears took on the Yulee Yellow Jackets on Thursday at home.

The Jackets jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Harnage singled to lead off the game. Harnage advanced to third on a Batram error. Munday singled, bringing home Harnage for the Jackets. Yulee then tacked on one more run when Graves scored on a passed ball.

The Bears responded in the third inning with a leadoff triple by Wade Ledford.  The Bears tied the game at 2-2 after a John Cassala’s double down the left field line, scoring Ledford. Blake Marabell’s single advanced Cassala to third allowing Tanner Murphy’s single to score Cassala. Marabell would score on a squeeze attempt and Murphy on a passed ball. The Bears added their final run of the inning on an error, scoring Jared Nourse, taking the Bears lead to 5-2.

In the top of the fourth Yulee scored another run on a Bartram error, closing its deficit to 5-3.

Bartram responded again in the bottom of the fourth scoring via sacrifice fly from Christian Harkey and a two-run double by Norse.

The Bears tacked on another run in the fifth when John Cassala singled in Mike Cassala.  The Bears got their final run of the game off of a solo homerun in sixth by Jared Nourse to give the Bears a 10-3 lead.

Starting pitcher Blake Bodin went 4 innings, striking out five and walking two of Yulee’s hitters to get the win. Bodin gave up only 1 earned run and scattered 4 hits. Joe Hoelle came in for 2 innings of relief giving up 1 hit and striking out four. Tanner Ruskin came in for the final three outs of the game, striking out the side and securing the Bears victory.

The Bears are back in action at Atlantic Coast on Saturday, first pitch is slated for 10:00 AM
