It covers such expenses as <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">books and supplies, tuition and fees, room and board, and transportation. Typically students\/families <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">will apply for financial aid at four levels: Federal, State, Institutional and Private Aid. Note: No one should <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">assume they will not qualify for financial aid! Scholarships and university programs consider a wide <\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">range of factors when awarding money for education.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Federal Student Aid\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nFederal student aid is money that students can use to help pay for college. There are three main types of aid: grants, work-study and loans.<br \/>\n<strong>Who gets it?<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Everyone should apply for federal student aid regardless of income.<br \/>\n<strong>How to apply?<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Free Application for Federal Student Aid<\/a> (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov<br \/>\n<strong>When to apply?<\/strong> FAFSA becomes available December 1 of a student&#8217;s senior year. There are many grants and scholarships available but Bright Futures and First Generation Grant are the most common.<br \/>\n<strong>Who gets it?<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 Everyone should apply for Florida financial aid regardless of income, GPA, or test scores.<br \/>\n<strong>How to apply?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida Financial Aid Application<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>When to apply?\u00a0 <\/strong>The Florida financial aid application becomes available October 1. Students should apply as soon as possible senior year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Institutional Financial Aid\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www-bths.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/guidance\/scholarships-offered-from-specific-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">(Scholarships\u00a0 offered from Specific Schools)<\/span><\/a><\/span> <\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>\nInstitutional (college\/university) student aid is money that students can use to help pay for college. Often times the college or university will require a separate application for aid.<br \/>\n<strong>Who gets it?\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Students should talk to the college\u2019s financial aid office to determine what the<br \/>\nqualifications are for their financial aid.<br \/>\n<strong>How to apply?\u00a0 <\/strong>Colleges usually have a separate application process for financial aid.
