{"id":2,"date":"2024-01-26T15:03:18","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T20:03:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www-bths.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/community-service\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2026-04-24T12:15:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T16:15:11","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www-bths.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/community-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 24pt;color: #333399\"><strong>Bartram Trail Service Hours<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Guidelines Specifically Related to Bright Futures and Honors Societies \/ Clubs<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;color: #333399\"><em>Best Bet for Community Service Hours &#8211; Don&#8217;t wait to Earn them!\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">We Recommend that Students Earn a <strong><u>minimum<\/u><\/strong> of<strong> 25<\/strong> Community Service Hours per School Year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">It is strongly recommended that Seniors have all of their hours completed and input by December of their senior year. This will allow that data to be uploaded to Bright Futures in January.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Service Hours need to\u00a0 be completed \/ earned by a non-profit organization.\u00a0 If you are unsure, this can be checked on Sunbiz.org<\/li>\n<li>Hours need to be turned in on sponsoring organizations letterhead &#8211; including hours earned at BTHS.<\/li>\n<li>They must include:\n<ul>\n<li>Full Name.<\/li>\n<li>Dates of activity.<\/li>\n<li>Hours earned.<\/li>\n<li>Type of service work provided.<\/li>\n<li>Sponsor Signature.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Community Events should benefit the entire community with no payment required.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Verification of Community Service Log Sheets are not accepted, and will not be entered.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The SJCSD Service Plan needs to be completed for all service hours-including\u00a0 hours\u00a0 earned\u00a0 at\u00a0 BTHS.\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www-bths.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/community-service\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2024\/01\/New-Bright-Futures-Community-Service-Form-St.-Johns-Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Service Plan Form<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Incomplete documentation for Community Service hours will not be entered. There is a binder at Guidance with these incomplete documents.<\/li>\n<li>Community Service hours are entered on a weekly basis.<\/li>\n<li>Seniors must earn all of their needed service hours by the date of Graduation.\n<ul>\n<li>These must be turned in to Guidance ASAP for entry so they are added to your Transcript on time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the student is unsure of the hours will count towards Bright Futures and meeting the SJCSD requirements, student may check with Ms. Richards in Guidance.<\/p>\n<p>Students may start earning hours during them Summer <strong>after<\/strong> their 8th grade year.\u00a0 Any hours earned during Middle School are non-transferable.<\/p>\n<p>Student should aim to complete 25 hours per year.\u00a0 \u00a0100 hours are needed for the Bright Futures Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Bright Futures has included the option of Work Hours for Service Hours &#8211; assisting those students that need to work after school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are using this option please note:\n<ul>\n<li>The Service Plan <strong>does<\/strong> need to be completed.<\/li>\n<li>You do not need to turn in work hours if you already have 100 + community service hours.<\/li>\n<li>Only 100 work hours will be added to your profile, please do not continue to turn them in after you have 100 hours.\n<ul>\n<li>These hours show up on your <strong>Transcript as work hours<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Work<\/strong> and <strong>Community service<\/strong> hours may be combined to reach the 100 hour goal for Bright Futures.<\/li>\n<li>Work hours to <strong>DO NOT<\/strong> apply toward community service hours that are required for Honors Societies. ie: NHS, NEHS, DECA, RHO-KAPPA, and some scholarships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;color: #333399\"><strong>Important to Note:<\/strong><\/span> <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">** The donations form that was used in 2020\/2021 is no long accepted\u00a0 hours.
