Bears Open With Win At Providence

The Bartram Trail Bears beat Providence 7-1 in seven innings on Thursday at Providence after a four-run explosion in the sixth inning.

The Bears scored in the sixth on an RBI double by Tyler Emmett, an RBI double by Tanner Murphy, and a two-run double by Mike Cassala.

Emmett helped the Bartram Trail take the lead for good in the sixth inning. Jacob Lovelace was hit by a pitch to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to second on a single by Joseph Hoelle.

Emmett had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.

 Bartram was led by a flawless day at the dish by Lovelace, who went 2-2 against Providence’s pitching. He singled in the second inning and tripled in the fourth inning.

Jarred Davenport got the win for the Bartram Trail Bears Varsity. He allowed one run over six innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered two hits.

Cain took the loss for Providence. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed one run.

The Bears added two more runs in the top of the seventh. A hit into a fielder’s choice scored Blake Marabell to get the Bartram Trail Bears Varsity on the board in the inning. That was followed up with a steal of home by Lovelace.

The Bears will return to action tonight at Home against Bishop Kenny. First pitch is scheduled for 4:45 PM.
